| In this two-part workshop participants will explore how technology can
enhance the teaching and learning environment in the engineering and
engineering technology curriculum.
The first part of the session will focus on the millennial student and technology integration strategies that faculty can employ to increase student engagement and learning. The second part will offer a panel discussion featuring Wentworth engineering and construction faculty who have effectively utilized virtual team, collaboration, and assessment technologies in the classroom. The panel discussion will be followed by smaller roundtable discussions where participants will have the opportunity to share tips, experiences and teaching strategies with colleagues regarding the implementation and use of learning technologies. |

| This teaching workshop will introduce new educators to the principles of effective teaching and learning. Topics covered will include learning objectives, class organization and developing interpersonal rapport with students. It is a great opportunity for those new to the teaching profession to gain some basic knowledge on where to focus their efforts to be effective teachers. The workshop will be based on the American Society of Civil Engineering’s Excellence in Civil Engineering Education (ExCEEd) teaching workshop seminars and will be conducted by Carol Considine and Stu Bernstein. | ||

BIM Use in Project Planning and Coordination (BIM/PPC) |

| Discussion of concept of BIM and potential use cases of BIM, pulling from specific industry and academic projects. Special attention will be given to BIM Execution Planning, as it provides a good framework for teaching BIM and including academia in the development of BIM practice. Discussion will also include skill sets CM students will need upon graduation for working in the industry, both while its under transformation and after. | ||

| The basic concepts of IPD will be outlined and then discussed within the context of both public and private approaches to implementation of this new contract form and process. Special attention will be paid to the use of BIM in IPD. Discussion will also include skill sets CM students will need upon graduation for working in the industry, both while its under transformation and after. | ||

| Building Information Modeling has arrived in our industry with a great deal of fanfare but many remain puzzled on how to effectively employ its power. In this workshop we’ll examine some of the practical applications of BIM and how it can be used effectively. We will investigate business development, scheduling, estimating, project control and mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP)coordination. We are going to examine putting the “I” in BIM. In addition we will look at “smart builts” and “smart facilities information”. Case studies of two active hospital projects and several affiliated work projects we will present what we have learned in applying BIM in the field and on the ground. | ||
